Culture
The Arts of China
A survey of Chinese Arts from the Stone Age up to the present focus on paintings, sculpture and crafts in different periods from Wei and Jin periods through Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, to the present.

Music of China
A survey touches on the broad range of musical traditions roughly identified as Chinese. In addition, this lecture will explore the practice of fieldwork, musicological theory, and general methodological issues encountered in Chinese music studies and comparative music in general.


History & Religions

Ancient History: a survey of ancient Chinese history from the earliest records of Chinese civilization to the Opium War in 1840. It is designed to introduce students to the bright ancient civilization made by the Chinese people and how a united, centralized Chinese Empire was organized and how the Chinese people could produce such an advanced civilization in the ancient world.
Modern History: since 1840 to end of last century , what happened in China.
Religions history: a survey of the history of various religions in China, includes ancient religious myths and legends, primitive religions, Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam Judaism, Manichaeism and popular of folk religions which existed and developed in the Chinese context for thousands of years.

Chinese Literature

Classical: a survey of classical Chinese literature from ancient times to the last Dynasty through a close study of the famous classical Chinese literary works, including fables, myths and legends, poems, stories, novels, and plays.
Modern: Modern Chinese fiction has gone through unprecedented development since the dawn of the 20th century and become increasingly connected with the many-faceted global existence.

Traditional Chinese Philosophy
Traditional Chinese philosophy differs tremendously from its western companion. Confucius' Analects is extensively examined to show the original features of Confucianism, which contribute to shaping Chinese civilization, and then turns to Mencius, Sunzi, Taoism, Legalism, Yin-yang school, Tung Chung-shu, Chinese Buddhism, and Neo-Confucianism.

Chinese Political and Economic Reform
The political causes of economic reform, ideological changes in economic reform, China¨s domestic economic development and its problems, domestic political development in the rise of China, domestic political economic effect of international economic interactions.

Chinese Foreign Policy
Introduce and discuss the Chinese foreign policies since 1949 till today, the current strategy and policy, and future trend. Subtopic as below:

Tibet Study

Introduction to Martial Arts (Wushu)
Introductory of Chinese Wushu representing Chinese traditional sports. By studying one forms of Wushu--the Taijiquan, students will have an opportunity to learn the basic movements and forms of Wushu. The students could learn and practise Taijiquan in the early morning everyday in the campus with a coach leading.
